The effect of emotional intelligence and resilience on emotional labor of the dental hygienists

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to reveal association between emotional intelligence, resilience and emotional labor.

Methods: For this study, 198 dental hygienists in Busan, Ulsan and Kyungnam are participated in this study. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS 24.0 program.

Results: We obtained the next results. First, sub-factor of resilience that has affected emotional labor is emotion control(¥â=-.281) and relationship (¥â=.142), R2=.088. Second, sub-factor of emotional intelligence that has affected emotional labor is regulation of emotion(¥â=-.218) and other's emotion appraisal(¥â=.171), R2=.063.

Conclusion: These result indicates that in order to reduce the emotional labor of dental hygienist, it is necessary to develop and apply an intervention programs considering emotion control, relationship, regulation of emotion and other's emotion appraisa.
